Product Overview

Optical switches play an irreplaceable and important role in any automated optical testing system, and are the core components that can achieve automated testing of multiple optical test objects or optical performance, avoiding various measurement uncertainties caused by multiple insertion and removal of optical connectors.

Dimension provides a series of high-performance OSW optical switch modules for optical automation testing systems, which are very suitable for laboratories or strict manufacturing production environments. Coupled with Dimension's universal optical testing platform, OSW optical switches can automatically route optical signals under program control, support parallel measurement of multiple channels and optical devices, significantly reduce testing time, and thus improve the efficiency of testing instruments, Reduce overall testing costs.

Optical Device Testing and Research

Programmable, supporting multiple triggering methods

The OSW optical switch can flexibly set the triggering method for optical path switching through programming functions, and can be triggered externally; TRIG signal, waiting for set time or triggering light switch switching through various methods such as touch screen and physical buttons, providing flexible interfaces for subsequent automation program development.

High repeatability

The switching frequency of OSW optical switches can reach 10 million times, and MEMS optical switches can reach 1 billion times. The repeatability of 100 random switching of insertion loss is less than 0.02dB, providing users with a highly reliable optical path[1].

Low insertion loss, low polarization correlation

Good channel consistency. The insertion loss of each channel is less than 1.0dB, and the polarization related loss is less than 0.05dB[2].

Remarks:
[1] The switching life of mechanical optical switches is greater than 10 million times, and the switching life of MEMS is greater than 1 billion times.
[2] Excluding insertion loss introduced by connectors, insertion loss is related to the number of optical switch ports. The insertion loss of mechanical optical switches is shown in the table below. Mechanical polarization related loss is less than 0.05dB, and MEMS is less than 0.1dB.
According to the number of optical switch ports, the module has single slot, double slot, and multiple slots, where the width size of multiple slots is the superposition of the width of a single slot.
