Insertion Loss and Return Loss Performance Testing
In optical communication systems, insertion loss and return loss are critical indicators for evaluating the performance of optical fiber connectors, jumpers, and other passive devices. Accurate testing of insertion loss and return loss is crucial to ensuring the stability and efficiency of optical communication networks.
In the field of optical communication, high-precision testing of insertion loss and return loss is a key factor in ensuring network quality and performance. However, the diverse types of optical fiber connectors and varying testing requirements pose challenges for manufacturers. Additionally, with the increasing demand for production capacity, the automation and efficiency of testing have become urgent needs.
Dimension Technology addresses these challenges by providing a comprehensive solution, covering single-core, duplex, multi-core MPO, and single-mode, multi-mode jumper testing. The platform + modular framework design allows users to be more flexible and effortless when modifying and iterating equipment.
Building upon the foundation of traditional non-rotational insertion return loss meters, Dimension Technology also offers various derivative products such as fiber reliability testing systems, multi-core polarity insertion return loss meters, and JumperRun end-face-3D-insertion return loss integrated testing devices.

How We Address Your Challenges?
1.Flexible Interface Design
To accommodate different connector types, our return loss meters feature a patented detachable design for the power meter interface. This means users can replace the tested interface according to actual needs, greatly enhancing equipment flexibility.
2.Multi-functional Integrated Instruments
To improve production efficiency, we have designed various multi-position integrated instruments, such as multi-core polarity insertion return loss testers and JumperRun single-core end-face-3D-insertion return loss integrated testers. These instruments meet various testing requirements while simplifying operation processes and enhancing production efficiency.
3.User-Friendly Software Design
Understanding the practical operational needs of manufacturing centers, our software design prioritizes user experience. We have developed a series of user-friendly software features with meticulous design to ensure users can operate according to their habits and preferences.
Ensuring the Accuracy of Return Loss
In the performance testing of passive optical devices, especially jumpers and connectors, both insertion loss and return loss values are crucial evaluation metrics. Although current insertion return loss meters are mature in insertion loss testing, ensuring accuracy in return loss testing, particularly when return loss values are below -60dB, presents challenges due to significant data fluctuation during retesting.
To address this challenge, Dimension Technology has conducted in-depth research and introduced a full range of non-rotational insertion return loss meters. These devices not only resolve common issues such as low testing efficiency, limited testing range, the need for winding, and inability to measure short fibers but also ensure high precision within the -80dB range.
To further demonstrate their accuracy, we conducted experiments using Dimension Technology's 4-channel adjustable POA attenuator (model: POA1409A-FA) and high-performance non-rotational insertion return loss meter (model: RLM1112A-1FA). The principles and data of the experiment are as follows:

Through in-depth analysis of the actual return loss test data at 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths, we draw the following conclusions:
1. When RL is greater than -70dB, the fluctuation range Δ of RL is less than 0.5dB.
2. When RL is in the range of -70dB to -75dB, the fluctuation range Δ of RL is less than 1.5dB.
3. When RL is in the range of -75dB to -80dB, the fluctuation range Δ of RL is less than 2.5dB.
These data fully demonstrate that Dimension Technology's non-rotational insertion return loss meters not only have a wide testing range (lowest reaching -80dB) but also possess high measurement accuracy and stability.
